Vintage 1950’s George Schmidt Roy Rogers Cap Gun & Gabriel Toy Gun With Holsters.
Roy Rogers Gun.
Vintage 1950’s George Schmidt Roy Rogers Cap Gun. This gun has a great patina. I have not tried to recondition the gun in any way. The trigger action operates as intended. I did not test either gun with caps. The barrel breaks for loading when you depress a button. The button does not hold the barrel together firmly, so when you pull the trigger, the gun frequently folds open as if you were loading. Roy Rogers signature logo appears on both sides of the barrel near the trigger guard. The RR logo appears on both sides of the grips, as does the Trigger logo.
Gabriel Gun.
The Gabriel pistol is lighter than the Roy Rogers pistol. The barrel is made from a very light metal or maybe plastic. The grips are plastic. The trigger action works well, but it is not apparent to me how one would load caps, so it could be just a toy gun that doesn’t take caps.
Holsters
I do not think the holsters are original to the guns because they bear no brand markings. Both holsters show significant wear from age and play. One has some handwriting on the back and the other has a hole almost worn through. The leather is old dilapidated on both holsters. They are not strong enough to endure play and are best suited for display in their current condition.
