About this Item:
This beautiful brass escutcheon was made circa 1880s. It is substantial, heavy brass. The quality of the casting is superb and high relief floral design is striking.
These escutcheons were salvaged from a Victorian home. Originally they were placed around a hole in the top of each interior window shutter so that the top window shutter could be lowered with a pole.
They could also be used as a striker plate for round flush bolts that are mounted in doors.
It measures 2" x 1" wide. The hole has a 3/4" diameter.
To install, you just drill a 1" wide hole to receive your bolt thru the eschutcheon and then attach with two #6 screws (not included)
This has been polished and coated with a light spray of high gloss polyurthane to retard future tarnishing.
This auction is for ONE escutcheon. The last photo shows all 23 that I had available when this auction began. They all are the same so the one you receive will be identical to the eschutcheon shown in the first 5 photos, although it may not be that exact one.
