This is a 5 volt regulator ic for currents up to 100 ma (1 / 10th of an ampere), make DC volts from 7  to 30 Volts to a Usable 5 Volts with no heatsink.
Great for small power supplies, like 9 volt battery down to 5 volts to power a few leds (with current limiting resistors) or a few ics or both.
