This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug. Also, the cap gun is a toy and cannot fire projectiles. This auction is for a George Schmidt Lasso 'em Bill cap gun. Who? Who was Lasso 'em Bill? The first cap guns with the Lasso 'em Bill designation came out in the 1930's, and this 10" die cast version is late 1950's. There has been much speculation, including suggestions for early western star William S. Hart or even Will Rogers, but my research seemed to indicate that this is a question that continues to stump cap gun collectors.
This cap gun is all metal with a nickel finish and stag grips that include the LB logo. When the trigger is pulled the hammer moves back and then forward with a strong snap. If it has been cap fired, only lightly so. The nickel finish is nearly perfect, while the stag grips do show some wear, particularly toward the bottom.
