    Description

This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug.  Also, the cap gun is a toy and cannot fire projectiles.
This auction is for a George Schmidt Alan Ladd cap gun.  It is a die cast cap gun approximately 10" long.  It has a chromed finish and copper-colored grips, which are also metal.  In addition the hammer and the release lever are copper-colored.
According to my research, only three western actors had their actual name placed on a cap pistol: Alan Ladd, John Wayne, and Nick Adams.  Ladd's name was used in this manner because of his starring role in the western movie "Shane."  According to Backyard Buckaroos, it is one of the most difficult character guns to find.
This cap gun is in good condition, but it does show some play wear.  The chrome finish shows some scratches and pitting, particularly around the cylinder.  The hammer, release lever, and grips, however, have only minor wear.  Also, the cap gun is a bit loose at the pivot point.  It does fire correctly with a good snap, and if it has fired caps, only lightly so.
