Description:
A beautiful proof copper-nickel coin from the United Kingdom. This is the one year type 1951 five shillings or crown coin displaying the bust of King George VI facing left on the obverse. The reverse displays Saint George on his horse slaying the dragon. The coin has the words "GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR: OMN: REX: F: D: FIVE SHILLINGS" surrounding the king's bust on the obverse. The reverse is marked "1951"under the design of St. George. This is KM 880 weighing ~28.2 grams and measuring about 28.5 mm in diameter. The coin is also marked on the edge with the following legend in Latin "MDCCCLI CIVIUM INDUSTRIA FLORET CIVITAS MCMLI". The coin is beautiful with mirror like fields and a clean lightly toned silvery surface with no detectable wear.
