The L7812 is a three-terminal positive voltage regulator available in TO-220 package. These voltage regulators are perfect for easy integration into your PCB or use with a breadboard power supply. With the input voltage of 7 VDC to 25 VDC, these regulators provide a steady output of 12 VDC. They also feature built in thermal overload protection to ensure safe shutdown in the event of over demand or improper heat dissipation helping to protect your project from damage. They also employ internal current limiting and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltage and currents.
